Ioannis Kapodistrias, whose name was given to Corfu's airport, was Greece's 1st Governor after revolution in 1821. Kapodistrias was raised in Russia but was born in Corfu. His museum is unique n Greece and it's devoted solely to his life and legacy.
Musuem aims on taking visitors to a journey through the history of Corfu and modern Greece following the events of his life. The building that hosts the museum is an old country residence which belonged to his family until 1979 when Maria Kapodistria donated the house to 3 local cultural organisations: The Reading Society, The Philharmonic Society and the Society of Corfiot Studies. Was renovated in 2017.
Museum holds a lot of Kapodistrias personal items; official letters, paintings and stamps and portraits are some of the most important. Apart from the exhibits we reccomend to try their coffee, museum was voted as 2nd best coffee maker between museums in Greece!
